JOB:
My name is Atiqur Rahman, and I am honoured to teach English and Islamic Studies at Rochdale Islamic Academy. After completing memorisation of the Qur’an with my father in 2003, I enrolled at Jamiatul Ilm Wal Huda in Blackburn, where I completed a BA in Islamic theology (Aalimiyyah), 10 modes of reciting the Qur’an and Ifta in 2011.
Since then, I have been the Imam and hifdh teacher at Werneth Jamia Masjid in Oldham al hamdu lillah. In 2018, I graduated from the University of Central Lancashire with an MA in Religion. From 2011 to 2019, I worked as a Teaching Assistant in a primary school, specialising with children with behavioural and special educational needs.
I love teaching in general and it is pretty much all I have done since graduating all those years ago. My favourite subject is English, and I try my best to make the lessons engaging and fun for my Year 7 and Year 8 students.
My ambition is to encourage my students to love learning in general and to be the best versions of themselves.
Outside of school and mosque, I enjoy playing football and going to the gym.
